Making The Car Ride With Mom Or Dad More Fun

In caring for our elderly parents, we spend a lot of time driving them to various appointments. And, depending on that parent’s current state and personality, those drives could range from a great time to a torturous experience.

If your drives are trending negative, Sirius XM radio has some channels that might keep your parent happy and you sane. For example, tune to Channel 70, “Siriusly Sinatra”, and let the Chairman of the Board distract mom or dad. Or maybe “On Broadway” is more their style – those show tunes are found on Channel 69.  There’s classical music on Channel 78’s “Symphony Hall”, country music from Dwight Yoakam on Channel 349, pop hits from the 50’s on Channel 72, and Southern Gospel on Channel 65. Plus news, sports, comedy, simulcasts of the major cable news channels (probably best avoided), and entertainment.

If your car has Sirius XM, download the channel guide and see what programming might fill the bill. If you’d like to consider adding Sirius XM, click here. In case you didn’t know, their programming is available on your computer, via an app for your phone or tablet, on smart speakers like Amazon Alexa and Google Nest/Home, and on dedicated home devices like this.
